Cartoon-Looking Rendering of 3D-Scenes
نویسنده
چکیده
We present a rendering algorithm that produces images with the appearance of a traditional cartoon from a 3D description of the scene (a static or an animated scene). The 3D scene is rendered with techniques allowing to: outline the profiles and edges of objects in back, uniformly color the surface inside the outlines, render shadows (backface shadows and projected shadows) due to light sources.

Cartoon Style Rendering
The objective of Cartoon Style Rendering is to produce a cartoon looking rendering out of a 3D scene. Instead of rendering photorealistic images the focus lies on artistic and stylistic characteristics. In this paper we give an overview of the common methods to generate cartoon looking scenes. We describe the basic techniques for the silhouette edge detection and the shading of the interior. Th...
متن کاملFast 3D Cartoon Rendering with Improved Quality by Exploiting Graphics Hardware
Our work in the area of non-photo-realistic rendering (NPR) focuses on visualising 3D models in a cartoon rendering style: the geometrical objects are internally coloured using two or three colours, while simultaneously using an explicit outline. Many NPR techniques are timeconsuming processes, whereas we aim at real-time rendering performance on mainstream graphics PC hardware without losing a...
متن کاملDrawing Style Capture for Cartoon Rendering
This paper proposes a method for capturing the drawing style of cartoon from the original comic book. Given a concept drawing image of the specific comic book, our approach recovers not only the color scheme, but also the color ratio. The main technical contribution of this paper is a shading model capture and a stylized cartoon rendering. For the shading model capture, we collect RGB statistic...
متن کاملRendering Technique
Rendering is the process of generating an image from a model as three dimensional objects in a defined language or data structure. It is the process of image synthesis by simulating light behavior. It would contain geometry, viewpoint, texture and lighting information. It is also known as "artist's rendering". In this technique graphics pipeline is giving the final appearance to the models and ...
متن کاملA Generalized Scene Graph
Scene graphs are fundamental data structures for hierarchical scene modeling. The generalized scene graph overcomes various limitations of current scene graph architectures such as support for different 3D rendering systems, integration of multi-pass rendering, and declarative modeling of scenes. The main idea is to separate scene specification from scene evaluation. To specify scenes, scene gr...
